ABOUT THIS TOUR
Experience Express 12-days acclimatization, glacier school, Cotopaxi & Chimborazo
An Unforgettable Journey Through Ecuador’s High Andes
Embark on a 12-day mountaineering expedition through the spectacular Ecuadorian Andes, designed to progressively acclimatize your body, develop essential alpine skills, and prepare you for two of Ecuador’s most iconic summits: Cotopaxi and Chimborazo.
This journey goes far beyond reaching a summit. From the ancient volcanic landscapes of Pasochoa and the dramatic ridges of Iliniza Norte to glacier training on Cotopaxi and the extraordinary high-altitude environment of Chimborazo, every stage is carefully designed to take you higher — physically, technically, and mentally.
Along the way, experience the incredible diversity of the Ecuadorian Andes: volcanic valleys, high-altitude páramo, agricultural landscapes, Indigenous communities, cloud forests, waterfalls, and some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in South America.
From Preparation to the Summit
The expedition begins with progressive acclimatization on Pasochoa and Rucu Pichincha, allowing you to gradually adapt to increasing altitude before moving into the alpine environment of the Ilinizas.
The ascent of Iliniza Norte at 5,125 meters introduces you to rocky alpine terrain, scrambling, fixed-rope sections, and the famous Death Pass. From there, the expedition moves onto the glaciers of Cotopaxi, where you receive hands-on training in crampon techniques, rope handling, glacier travel, snow climbing, and basic crevasse rescue.
This preparation becomes essential when you attempt the summit of Cotopaxi at 5,897 meters, beginning under a star-filled sky and climbing through 30–45-degree glacier slopes as the first light of day illuminates the Andes.
Two Iconic Summits. One Extraordinary Expedition.
After the physical challenge of Cotopaxi, the journey continues to Baños, Ecuador’s adventure capital, where you have time to recover and experience a completely different side of the country — surrounded by waterfalls, cloud forest, orchids, hummingbirds, and the spectacular Pailón del Diablo. This city Villages are considering the door into the Jungle or Amazon forest. So beautiful resting day.
The final challenge awaits on Chimborazo, Ecuador’s highest mountain at 6,263 meters. Crossing glaciers, ice slopes, and crevassed terrain during the night, you ascend toward the summit as the sun rises over the Andes.
Standing on the summit of Chimborazo is the culmination of the expedition: you are at the highest point in Ecuador and at the place traditionally recognized as the closest point on Earth to the Sun.
More Than a Climb — A Complete Andean Experience
What makes this expedition unique is its carefully structured progression. Rather than attempting Ecuador’s highest peaks immediately, you build altitude, experience, and technical skills throughout the journey.
You are accompanied by a professional mountain team throughout the expedition, with experienced guidance, technical preparation, logistical support, and carefully planned acclimatization built into the program. We use the sertificated guids from ASEGUIM/UIAGM) Only.
This is an expedition for travelers who want more than sightseeing — for those who want to challenge themselves, learn real mountaineering skills, experience Ecuador at its most spectacular, and earn the unforgettable feeling of standing on the summit of two legendary Andean volcanoes.
